Kim Kardashian is no stranger to making headlines, especially with her Skims launches — but her latest product might just be her wildest one yet. Brace yourselves, Pop Tellers!

On October 14, the 44-year-old mogul introduced the Skims Faux Hair Micro String Thong, a daring new underwear piece featuring “a mix of curly and straight faux hair” available in twelve different shade variations, according to the brand’s website. The thong retails for $32 and is being promoted as Skims’ “most daring panty yet.”

Yes, I’m as mind-blown as you are.

The “Ultimate Bush” Campaign

To announce the launch, Skims dropped a tongue-in-cheek campaign video styled after 1970s game shows, complete with vintage lights, announcer voices, and bold colors. Kim also shared a personal promo on her IG story with herself calling it “funny,” playing into the cheeky humor of the concept.

Sooo, Kimmy, is this meant to be a joke? Is it a Halloween costume idea?

This isn’t the first time Skims has gone viral for an eyebrow-raising product. Earlier this year, the company released a pierced nipple push-up bra featuring built-in fake nipple protrusions and piercings. Then there was the Skims Face Wrap which, in Kim’s words, “snatches your little chinny-chin-chin.”

Fans Aren’t Laughing

While Skims is known for pushing boundaries, many fans feel this latest launch crosses the line from edgy to tone-deaf.

Some called out the irony of the Kardashians — a family often credited with popularizing a hyper-polished, hairless aesthetic — now trying to sell faux body hair for fashion. Critics pointed out that for years, women have been made to feel like natural hair was “gross” or “unfeminine,” only for it to now be marketed back to them at $32 a pop.

Others found the idea flat-out absurd, saying the product feels like a parody of modern beauty culture. “Why would I do that when I have one that grows for free?” was a recurring sentiment across social media.

There was also cultural backlash, with some arguing that turning body hair into a trendy accessory erases the real significance it holds in many cultures — essentially reducing something natural into a novelty item.

And then there were those who just found it hilariously ironic: “They sell us things we already have,” one fan joked, summing up the general vibe online.

Kim might’ve called her latest Skims drop “funny,” but not everyone’s in on the joke. Between the “Ultimate Bush” thong and the viral “Pierced Nipple Bra,” it’s clear Skims isn’t afraid to shock — but this time, fans think the brand may have gone a little too far trying to make body hair a fashion statement.
