Okay so first things first: Harry Styles just dropped his new album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally and it’s packed with dreamy soft-rock sounds, reflective storytelling, and the kind of poetic lyrics that send fans straight into detective mode.

And as per usual… the internet has already found a tiny connection to Taylor Swift.

Fans Noticed a Lyric That Sounds Very Taylor Swift

In Harry’s song Carla’s Song, there’s a lyric that goes:

“If you know, then you know
If you don’t, then you don’t.”

Fans quickly noticed it sounds very similar to a line in Taylor’s song Opalite, where she sings:

“When you know you know.”
“When you don’t you don’t.”

Before anyone spirals into conspiracy theory territory, though, most fans are treating this as a fun coincidence rather than some secret message—an Easter Egg if you will. The phrases are pretty universal, and you know, sometimes great minds just think alike.

The lyric déjà vu doesn’t even stop there. Let’s not forget Taylor’s Opalite was rumored to reference Lana Del Rey, specifically her song Margaret, which includes the line:“When you know, you know.”

So basically… this phrase has been floating around pop music for a while now.

A Quick Throwback to Harry and Taylor

Of course, fans love any excuse to connect Harry and Taylor, mainly because the two dated briefly back in 2012 during the peak of One Direction mania.

That relationship has fueled years of fan theories and song analysis ever since (looking at you, Style). But these days, the two seem to be totally friendly. There’s even a running fan theory that Harry might attend Taylor’s wedding this year — mainly because he’s rumored to be dating her longtime friend Zoë Kravitz.

So yeah, the lyric similarity is fun to notice, but it’s probably nothing deeper than a coincidence. Still… if you know, you know.

What ‘Carla’s Song’ Is Actually About

Totally worth noting: Carla’s Song isn’t about Taylor at all.

The track is actually about one of Harry’s real-life friends named Carla. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Harry explained that the moment behind the song ended up being surprisingly meaningful to him.

“Carla kind of just became, in so many ways, the most important part of the record to me,” he said.

Harry recalled a night when he and a group of friends were hanging out before an after-party, and Carla mentioned she had just discovered Simon & Garfunkel. Since Harry grew up listening to them, he decided to play her the iconic song Bridge Over Troubled Water.

“Watching her listen to it, having never heard that song, felt like I was just watching someone see… or like discover magic,” Harry said.

He explained that the moment reminded him why he loves music in the first place, and how powerful songs can be across generations. “There was something in that moment that reminded me of, by making music, what you’re investing in, and it’s songs that go so beyond our lifetime.”

Harry also played Carla Kathy’s Song, which ended up inspiring the title Carla’s Song.
