The internet has been spiraling over rumors that Zendaya and Tom Holland are married—mostly because of a set of viral photos (and yes, Law Roach definitely added fuel to the fire).

Despite ongoing rumors about their relationship, Zendaya has not confirmed whether she and her fiancé have secretly tied the knot (although that wedding ring caused a scandal). But after some very convincing AI-generated wedding photos went viral, a lot of people were fully convinced the big day had already happened.

Fresh off her surprise Oscars appearance, Zendaya stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on March 16, where the topic of her relationship status quickly came up. As expected, the internet chaos made its way into the conversation.

“I’m sure you know the internet has gone berserk with stories that you might actually be married to Tom,” Kimmel said. “Really? I haven’t seen any of that,” The Drama actress responded, laughing as the audience clapped for her.

Kimmel then brought up the viral AI wedding photos, and that’s when Zendaya explained: “Many people have been fooled by them. While I was, like, just out and about in real life, and people were like, ‘Oh my god, your wedding photos are gorgeous.’ And I was like, ‘Babe, they’re AI.’”

Yep. People were congratulating her… over photos that weren’t even real.

So, while some are just using AI to create an avatar or experiment with cool filter tools, others are taking things way further. Digital artist Juan Regueira Rodríguez, for example, managed to create this entire fake Zendaya and Tom wedding that fooled thousands.

The now-deleted images which were fabricated using technological tools, showed Zendaya in full bridal glam, standing beside Holland in a classic tux. The two appeared to be exchanging vows in front of a dreamy, almost too-perfect backdrop of mountains and lakes.

Even though the artist clearly stated in the caption that “the images have been created with AI” and that “they are not real photographs,” the post still exploded online, racking up over 11 million likes before eventually being deleted. By that point, the damage was already done, and the images had spread everywhere.

And this isn’t even the first time the internet has been tricked. AI images of Pope Francis in a designer puffer jacket and Donald Trump in staged “arrest” photos have both gone viral in the past, blurring the line between what’s real and what’s completely fabricated.

One thing’s clear: AI is getting way too good at this—and Zendaya and Tom Holland are feeling the effects firsthand.
