10 years ago, Tom posted a photo on Instagram with Zendaya and another friend, captioning it, “Summer Sunday’s” and the rumors started almost immediately. After all, every Spider-Man actor had dated their MJ in real life at one point or another, so why would these two be any different?
August 2016: Zendaya and Tom Grab Coffee Together
A month after that first Instagram photo, the pair started being spotted out in public together, although dating was still nothing more than a rumor. Tom and Zendaya were seen at Starbucks on August 15, 2016, and from then on, fans on Twitter were already riding hard for Tomdaya.

Deny. Deny. Deny. That was their strategy from the start, but we saw right through it.
Although Zendaya denied the dating rumors in an interview with Variety, calling Tom “a great dude,” the chemistry between them was so undeniable that journalists couldn’t help but ask about their relationship. “He’s literally one of my best friends,” she reaffirmed.

Trouble in paradise? Oh, there sure was! The pandemic, long distance between London and Los Angeles, and back-to-back filming schedules might have put a strain on even the strongest relationship.

June – August 2023: Tom and Zendaya Want a “Private” Relationship
As they became official, Zendaya and Tom wanted to protect their relationship at all costs. While they were occasionally spotted holding hands or sharing sweet moments—like the now-iconic time Tom gently placed his hand on Zendaya’s leg to comfort her during an interview—they continued to keep their relationship largely out of the spotlight, choosing to share very little publicly.
