Selena Gomez, who seems way too busy for anything other than TV and movie gigs (and ofc, her billion-dollar makeup line—because every semi-retired pop star has one), is finally dropping hints that new music might be on the way.
Selenators are losing their minds at the prospect of new music from Gomez, but of course, there are some on the internet that can’t help but notice one tiny detail: Selena’s announcements and releases always seem to line up with… Justin Bieber’s.
Selena and Justin Tease New Music at the Same Time
This Wednesday (22nd), Selena posted an IG story from a studio rocking headphones. When the camera turned, she sneakily covered what looked like lyrics on the screen with a heart emoji. Her fiancé, Benny Blanco even reposted the clip on his TikTok.
Before that, Benny had already shared a video in which Selena appeared to be recording something. The producer used the post to respond to a comment that said: “Benny please make some new songs for our queen”.
Meanwhile, Justin wasn’t staying quiet either, and news had already been circulating about his imminent return to music.
On Saturday (Jan 18th), he shared an Instagram pic of himself singing into a microphone and rocking some headphones, with his music producer tagged.
Earlier that week, he also teased a few seconds of what might be a demo on his Instagram Story. Naturally, fans are convinced that all of this means new music is on the way (Beliebers, contain yourselves!).
What Are the Fans Saying?
It’s been a minute since “Jelena” was the world’s ultimate power couple. From 2011 to 2018, Justin and Selena’s love story gave us all the drama with their on-again, off-again romance, before officially moving on. Justin’s now married to Hailey Bieber, and Selena is engaged to producer Benny Blanco.
Despite both parties being totally over each other, Beliebers and Selenators just can’t move on.
Justin’s fans were quick to point out that Selena’s teasers dropped almost at the same time as Justin’s—and this isn’t the first (or second) time something like this has happened.
But hold up—Selenators are coming in with the clapbacks. They’re flipping the script, saying it’s actually Justin who follows her lead.
Oh, and the drama doesn’t end there. Some fans are speculating Selena’s actually part of a PR stunt, especially after someone ‘hacked’ Justin’s IG which led to him unfollowing his wife, Hailey earlier this week (awkward, much?). I mean, the math is kinda mathing…
Some even joked that Selena herself was the hacker (like, let’s not go thaat far, y’all).
