This week (May 19), Hailey Bieber dropped a major fashion moment — her first ever Vogue cover — and instead of a celebratory husband-of-the-year comment, Justin Bieber sparked major controversy with an IG caption that had fans in a total meltdown (and not in a good way).
Under the cover post, Justin basically missed the mark, revealing details about an argument he’d had with Hailey where he told her she’d never land a Vogue cover. The tone-deaf caption wrote:
“Yo, this reminds me [of] when Hailey and I got into a huge fight. I told Hails that she would never be on the cover of Vogue. Yikes. I know, so mean. For some reason, because I felt disrespected, I thought, I gotta get even. I think as we mature we realize that we’re not helping anything by getting even. We’re honestly just prolonging what we really want, which is intimacy and connection. So baby, [you] already know but forgive me for saying [you] wouldn’t get a Vogue cover cuz clearly I was sadly mistaken.”

Uhhh… what? “Sadly mistaken?” Come again, Justin?
Naturally, fans read Bieber’s caption more like a cryptic diss than a sweet shoutout. The backlash was quick and brutal. So brutal, in fact, that Justin deleted the caption and rewrote it completely.

But the damage? Already done. Fans felt it was yet another moment where Justin seemed to lowkey embarrass Hailey instead of lifting her up.

You wife on the cover of Vogue and you put “I used to say you will never be in vogue because I felt disrespected” Justin be for fucking real

Enter: Selena Gomez…
Selena Enters the Chat — And the Internet Spirals
In what fans are calling a mic-drop moment, Selena double-tapped Sephora’s Instagram announcement about Rhode arriving in their stores. This comes after Hailey’s fans accused her and Rare Beauty of being the reason Sephora hadn’t put Rhode on their shelves.

Then, the real kicker: Selena posted an Abbie Wiggins quote to her IG Stories that read:
“You matter. Your voice matters. Your heart matters. You are worth so much more than you know.”
With a caption that said:
“You know who you are and I’m cheering you on.”

The Hailey vs. Selena Feud Rumors are Put to Bed
Whewww. Fans immediately speculated that the quote was directed at Hailey — a subtle but powerful message of support from one woman to another. Especially meaningful, considering their messy history (hello, years of Jelena vs. Jailey stan wars).
Now? That IG like + the story post are being seen as Selena officially putting an end to the rumored feud — and fans are living for it.

The internet’s reaction was overwhelmingly positive, with Selenators reaffirming why they’ve always called Sel a ‘girl’s girl.’

she has always been like this it's sad that people constantly twist her words and make her out to be the villain https://t.co/B3Y6Z7ypUG

It’s giving maturity. It’s giving women supporting women. And I am totally here for it.
Quick Recap: The Selena-Hailey-Justin Triangle
In case you somehow missed the past decade of internet drama, here’s the tea: Justin and Selena dated on and off for nearly a decade, earning a loyal (and still very active) fanbase. After their final split, Justin quickly moved on and married Hailey Baldwin in 2018, which fueled nonstop comparisons and wild conspiracy theories.
Fans accused Hailey of copying Selena’s looks, style, and even tattoos — while Hailey faced intense hate and harassment. Selena, for her part, has repeatedly asked fans to chill and stop the drama. At the time, she followed Hailey on Instagram and took to her own Stories to write:
“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity. This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”

Hailey later publicly thanked Selena for speaking out, writing on Instagram:
“I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as her and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I…The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved and millions of people are seeing so much hate around this, which is extremely harmful…”

Let’s not forget Hailey even ‘liked’ Selena’s engagement announcement last year…I think this so-called ‘feud’ might just be in our head, guys…
