The internet is in full-blown detective mode after TMZ reported that “single” Orlando is planning to go hard at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Italy: solo. That’s right, no mention of Katy. Cue the breakup rumors.
While neither of them has confirmed anything, fans are already spiraling online and one theory in particular has gone viral for being so unhinged, it’s actually kind of iconic.
People are blaming Katy and Orlando’s possible split on none other than… the Rosé Curse. Yep. Seriously.
“Use to not believe about the rose curse but wtf- why does it happen to anyone who takes pics with rose this needs to be investigated,” one X user wrote. While another said, “rosé curse is alive and thriving (unfortunately).”
What Even Is the Rosé Curse?
Forget the Kardashian Curse, it looks like the Rosé Curse is the next big theory taking Gen Z by storm.
The Rosé Curse is an online joke-turned-meme that basically says any big star who takes a photo with BLACKPINK singer, Rosé, will soon experience a breakup with their partner. The internet swears she’s low-key cursed after several high-profile couples who snapped a pose with her subsequently ended their relationships.

Coincidence? Probably. But X (formerly Twitter) is having a field day with it anyway.
Real Reasons Behind Katy and Orlando’s Split
As fun as the Rosé Curse theory is, there are some actual possible reasons why Katy and Orlando might be going through it.
For one, there’s the space trip drama. Orlando is said to have disapproved of Katy’s infamous trip to space in April, which they got into an argument over. A source told the Daily Mail:
“He told her the whole thing looked ridiculous. He said it was cringeworthy. Embarrassing. This was in the middle of a fight, and it hurt her feelings. Of course she was hurt. Imagine going to space—motherfu**ing space—and your partner isn’t impressed. She hoped he’d be more supportive.”
Then there’s apparently major tension over Orlando planning to attend Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s Venice wedding without Katy. The same insider told the Daily Mail:
“She does have prior commitments, but it goes deeper than that. Katy feels like they’re really her friends more than his, and yet he’s the one going to the wedding. And he’s insistent that he goes, which annoys her because he’s not particular close to either of them. She feels like it’s a ‘fu*k you’ to her from him. He complains about her going to space, and then wants to go to the wedding of the people who made it possible for her to do this in the first place. That’s difficult for her to accept. They’re already spiraling and now the wedding is another thing that they have to fight about.”
And let’s not ignore Katy’s recent stress over her latest album 143 totally flopping. According to People, the lukewarm reception caused some serious “tension” at home. Katy was “very stressed,” a source revealed. Oof.
But Is the Breakup Even Real?
All jokes and chaos aside, no one has officially confirmed this celebrity breakup. Katy and Orlando haven’t commented, and they’ve been known to be private during rocky times in the past. So until we get a Notes app screenshot or passive-aggressive Instagram Story, it’s all just speculation.
Still, if the Rosé Curse is real, someone better warn Olivia Rodrigo.
