A new year means the end of one chapter and the start of another. But who would’ve thought celebs would be taking that so literally. We’re no way near halfway through the year, and 2025 is already serving us an unfortunate (or juicy?) lineup of celebrity breakups.
Sure, we all love a heartwarming love story, but let’s be real—breakup drama is top-tier entertainment. So, from those who have separated to the many who are getting a divorce, here’s the tea on who called it quits this year so far:
The Biggest Celebrity Breakups of 2025 So Far
Lily Allen and David Harbour
Together for: 4 years
British singer Lily Allen and Stranger Things star David Harbour have ended their marriage, according to People. A source exclusively revealed to the news outlet that “her marriage has been crumbling and they have split.”
Although neither Lily or David have commented on the breakup, the singer did reveal that they were going through a “tough time” back in December on her BBC podcast Miss Me? She said things were so bad, that it was affecting her mental health and causing eating problems.
The famous pair married in 2020 after meeting on the celebrity dating app Raya, and wedded in Las Vegas in front of Lily’s two daughters whom she shares with ex-husband Sam Cooper.

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson
Together for: 10 years
After 10 years of marriage, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson officially confirmed their split to People this Tuesday (January 14). The singer, who shares three kids with Johnson, explained:
“Eric and I have been living separately, navigating a painful situation in our marriage. Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
Breakup rumors have been swirling since November, when Jessica posted a photo on Instagram without her wedding ring on. She had also noticeably stopped sharing any snaps of Eric. Sad times.

Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford
Together for: 21 years
Courtney Ford and Brandon Routh are officially done after spending 21 years together and sharing 17 years of marriage (which is basically like, 40 years in the celeb world). According to People, Courtney was the one who filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
The couple, who share an 11-year-old son, took to Instagram to share the news: “We have decided to begin a new journey, and enter this next chapter of life as friends and co-parents. We are now and forever rooting for each other as we move through this wild adventure called life.”
Their post also revealed they hadn’t planned to make the news public right now, especially with the LA wildfires ongoing, but they felt forced after the story leaked. Courtney showed solidarity with those affected and shared helpful links for support.
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren
Together for: 16 years
Not even superheroes are safe from breakups. Jessica Alba and Cash Warren, who first met on the set of Fantastic Four back in 2004, have called it quits after 16 years of marriage. TMZ broke the news on January 8, and while the couple haven’t made an official statement yet, a source close to them spilled the tea to Life & Style, saying the divorce was “basically a matter of growing apart.”
The source also added that their three kids remain their top priority: “They are focused on healthy co-parenting and making this transition as smooth as possible.”

Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler
Together for: 3 years
Sources close to this stunning couple spilled to TMZ on January 7 that Kaia and Austin had called it quits after three years together. According to the insider, the breakup actually happened at the end of 2024—which pretty much makes sense, as Kaia rang in the New Year in Mexico, and Austin was MIA in all of her pics.
The source added, “The relationship just simply ran its course after a good three years together.” Neither of them have commented on the split yet, which is giving leave us alone vibes.

Naomi Osaka and Cordae
Together for: 5 years
After five years together, tennis star Naomi Osaka took to Instagram to announce that she and rapper Cordae had parted ways. In an Instagram Story, she shared a heartfelt message, making it clear there’s no bad blood between them:
“He’s a great person and an awesome dad,” she wrote, referring to their 1-year-old daughter. “Honestly, really glad our paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing, and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together.”
