As the legal drama between It Ends With Us costars Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively plays out in court, alleged text messages between Lively and Taylor Swift have entered the conversation — and they’re raising eyebrows.
1. Because they’re pretty juicy, and 2. because they’ve proved Taylor was involved in all the drama despite her team denying so last year.
Let’s break it all down, including an explanation on what the texts mean, and how one specific line *might* confirm Taylor’s diss track Cancelled was about Baldoni.

Taylor’s ‘Tiny Violin’ Texts to Blake Explained
So here’s where things get messy… and fascinating.
In a filing submitted by Lively’s lawyers on Jan. 20, portions of alleged texts between the two friends were quoted. One message, sent in early December 2024, immediately lit the internet on fire.
Swift allegedly wrote: “I think this bi*ch knows something is coming because he’s gotten out his tiny violin.”
The message was sent days before Lively publicly accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation in a New York Times article published on Dec. 21, 2024.
However, Lively’s legal team denies that the text referenced the forthcoming article, saying it does not support that claim, according to People.
Still… that wording is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
How the ‘Tiny Violin’ Line Tied ‘Cancelled’ to Justin
Fans immediately clocked that Taylor allegedly using “tiny violin” in reference to Baldoni mirrors a lyric from her diss track Cancelled, where she sings: “Were you just too smug for your own good? Or bring a tiny violin to a knife fight?”
Same phrase and urm, same undertone.
To me, this is the first time it feels less like coincidence and more like context. If Taylor was already privately venting about someone “getting out his tiny violin,” it suddenly makes sense why fans think Cancelled might be aimed at Justin Baldoni.

Lively Asked Swift to Endorse Her Version of the Script
In another exchange, Baldoni’s legal team alleges Lively asked Swift (who was allegedly already en route to visit her while Baldoni was present in Lively’s home) to publicly endorse her revised script version “even without having read it.” Swift allegedly responded: “I’ll do anything for you !!”
Swift allegedly pushed Lively’s version of the script after meeting with Baldoni at Lively’s apartment and the Gossip Girl star went on to text Taylor praising her support. According to E! News, the text read:
“You were so epically heroic today. I recapped every moment to Ryan [Reynolds]. I kept remembering stuff—You making s–t up about me and lenses. And referring to yourself as my doll. This clown falling for all of it. But also resisting it…You are the worlds absolute greatest friend ever.”
Lively and Swift Discussed Using Swift’s Song in the Film’s Trailer
Additional alleged messages involving Swift suggest she believed Baldoni made a misstep by using her song My Tears Ricochet in It Ends With Us.
According to court documents, Swift and Lively exchanged messages on April 26, 2024, discussing the idea of featuring Swift’s track in the film’s trailer. Swift questioned Baldoni’s approach, writing:
“If Justin was strategic he would be like no Taylor swift in the trailer because that gives you more power over the film, that’s your ally not his.”
Lively allegedly agreed, responding:
“You are so right…He should’ve run from your music…How stupid. This was his only shot at having the appearance of an upper hand.”
Why Are People Mad At Taylor Over These Messages?
Following the release of these messages, people have gone so far as to call Taylor a “snake” and a “nasty mean girl“. But why are they mad? Wasn’t she just defending and helping out a friend? That’s what friends do, right?
Well, before these texts surfaced, Taylor’s camp was very clear: she was not involved in any of the Lively/Baldoni drama. The newly surfaced texts now raise the possibility that those statements weren’t entirely honest.
In May 2025, her rep issued a strong statement distancing her from It Ends With Us entirely: “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history,”
The rep also added:
“The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet.’ Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”
So officially? Taylor wanted nothing to do with this drama. Unofficially? The texts are… saying otherwise.
