Taylor Swift may have made millions of dollars since her rise to fame (and rightfully so), but she’s also made a staggering number of enemies, too (judge that by reading on).
Controversy has followed Taylor Swift for years now, and a lot of it has to do with her ongoing feuds. Outside her “Squad” of famous females are a handful of celebrities that have feuded with the Anti-Hero singer.

Joe Jonas – Bad Blood Since 2008
What Happened?
Taylor’s first boyfriend, Joe Jonas, also happens to be her first enemy. Her feud with Joe began in 2008 after he dumped her over a 27-second telephone call.
Although the two only dated for three months, Taylor held a grudge for two years (girls can be like that).
From discussing the break-up in interviews to writing a bunch of songs about him, Taylor and Joe’s brutal breakup went very public.
Joe then took a swipe back at Tay by singing the lyrics, “Now I’m done with superstars/And all the tears on her guitar” in his song Much Better.
Two years down the line and Taylor still had a bone to pick. Fans accused her of slut-shaming Joe’s then-girlfriend, Camilla Belle in her song Better Than Revenge, where it sounded like she was blaming Belle for “stealing her man.”
Come 2019, and Joe revealed on Lorraine that he and Taylor had “moved on” and were “all friends.”
Kanye West – Bad Blood Since 2009
What Happened?
If there’s one known fact about Taylor Swift, it’s that her feud with Kanye West is pretty much never ending.
This monumental pop culture feud began in 2009 when Kanye stormed the MTV VMAs stage during Taylor’s acceptance speech for winning Best Female Video.
The rapper stole Taylor’s microphone and claimed that Beyoncé “had one of the best music videos of all time.”
*Collective gasp*
Taylor never let the shocking incident drop and sang about it in her track, Innocent.
Although the two kissed and made up in 2015, a year later, Kanye dropped his song, Famous, which contained lyrics that Taylor supposedly didn’t approve of.
The controversial rapper insisted she’d given the go ahead, but Taylor denied this and even dragged Kanye during her acceptance speech at the 2016 Grammy Awards, accusing him of “undercutting” her success.
A few rants and feuds later, it came out that Taylor was telling the truth, and had in fact not approved Kanye’s distasteful lyrics. Still, this feud has been quiet ever since.

John Mayer – Bad Blood Since 2010
What Happened?
Many critics would say Taylor has built her career on slandering her exes…
John Mayer gave Taylor more material to write about when he broke up with her in February 2010.

Retaliating to her song Dear John (which was based on him), Mayer told Rolling Stone, “It made me feel terrible, because I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”
Despite going from lovers to enemies, John later told his fans that he was a fan of Swift’s Reputation, calling it “a fine piece of work.”
Demi Lovato – Bad Blood Since 2010
What Happened?
Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift have had an ongoing war since the Shake It Off singer apparently ‘stole’ Demi’s best friend. Typical teenage dramas, ya know?
Background info: Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato were Disney BFFs ever since one can remember. Until Taylor entered the picture.
Haters believe Taylor abducted Selena and persuaded her to join her Squad (Tay’s group of famous friends) and Demi has been maddened ever since.
When asked how Selena was in 2010, Demi replied with the sarcastic response, “Ask Taylor.” OUCH!
It doesn’t end there. Demi called Taylor out in 2016 when popstar, Ke$ha was going through a lawsuit against her producer, Dr. Luke. Demi indirectly threw shots at Taylor (who claims to be a feminist) on Twitter:
Taylor then revealed that she had in fact donated $250,000 to Ke$ha in support of her legal fees.
Come 2023, and the singers let bygones be bygones when Taylor was spotted dancing to Demi’s VMA performance, and Demi sweetly responded on Twitter.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler – Bad Blood Since 2013
What Happened?
Taylor made enemies with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler after they made a joke about her love life at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards.
Referring to Taylor’s love life, Tina joked that Swift should “stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son” and use “some ‘me time’ to learn about herself.”
The light-hearted joke wasn’t taken too lightly by Taylor. Her response? “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” CATTY!
Fast-forward to 2020, and there was peace between the trio when Taylor and Amy took to the Golden Globes stage together to present an award.
Katy Perry – Bad Blood Since 2014
What Happened?
Is Taylor’s music based on her fights? You bet it is! Well, at least some of it…
The popstar who inspired Bad Blood was Katy Perry – Taylor’s next worst enemy (other than Kanye West, of course).
It all began in an interview with Rolling Stone, when Taylor accused Katy for apparently stealing her dancers and “sabotaging” her tour.

It was later revealed that the dancers made their own decision to quit Taylor’s tour for Katy’s. Perhaps the Roar singer played no part in “ruining” Taylor’s tour.
After slandering Katy in the interview and writing an entire song about her, Katy had one thing to say about Taylor on Twitter:
Several jabs and burns later (urm, Katy literally shared a video of herself dancing to Kanye’s Famous song), the pair finally made up.
Katy sent Taylor a literal olive branch and an apology note, and the duo appeared together in Tay’s You Need to Calm Down video. Oh, and there was this very important selfie in 2024:
Nicki Minaj – Bad Blood In 2015
What Happened?
Once again, Taylor made another enemy, this time in the form of iconic rapper, Nicki Minaj.
In 2015, Nicki was furious at the MTV VMAs after learning that her Anaconda music video hadn’t been nominated in one of the categories, while songs like Bad Blood were. She wrote:
Taylor picked a fight with Nicki by assuming she was making a direct jab at her, and so tweeted:
Nicki corrected Taylor and replied: “Huh? U must not be reading my tweets. Didn’t say a word about u. I love u just as much. But u should speak on this.”
The public feud was soon laid to rest when Taylor brought out Nicki to perform with her at the MTV VMAs that same year.
Avril Lavigne – Bad Blood In 2015
What Happened?
Pop-rock legend Avril Lavigne had a few words to say about Taylor Swift on Twitter when the Folklore singer liked a Tumblr post that suggested she’s nicer to her fans at meet and greets than other singers, including Avril.
Taking offence by this, Avril tweeted:
Taylor acknowledged that it was a catty move and so made it up to Avril by inviting her onstage during her San Diego concert to perform Complicated.

Miley Cyrus – Bad Blood Since 2015
What Happened?
We shouldn’t classify this one as a ‘feud’, but we can confirm that Miley Cyrus is surely not a Swiftie.
In 2015, during the height of Taylor’s infamous Squad, Miley made it clear that she had no interest in joining this girl group in an interview with New York Times:
“I’m not trying to be in the squad.” She added, “None of my friends are famous and not because of any other reason than I just like real people who are living real lives…”
But that was long ago, because fast-forward to the 2024 Grammys, and Taylor was quite vividly raising her glass to Miley throughout her performance.
Calvin Harris – Bad Blood Since 2016
What Happened?
When Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris split up in 2016, the popstar began dating actor, Tom Hiddleston, a few weeks later. In good old salty ex fashion, Calvin unfollowed Taylor on Twitter.
The beef intensified when Taylor’s rep claimed she had in fact written Calvin’s hit, This is What You Came For. Calvin confirmed this news on Twitter, but he then began firing shots at Tay and even involved Katy Perry:
Seemingly pleased that yet another star had seen Taylor’s true colors, Katy simply tweeted this GIF as if to say “told ya so”…
Kim Kardashian – Bad Blood Since 2016
What Happened?
Kim Kardashian became Taylor Swift’s enemy when she defended Kanye during his feud with the Midnights singer.
Five months after Taylor denied approving Kanye’s Famous lyrics, Kim took to Snapchat to publish a recording of the telephone call between Kanye and Taylor which heard the singer approving the lyrics in question.
In what was one of Kim’s most controversial moments, she posted a shady tweet directed to Taylor in celebration of International Snake Day:
Like we said earlier, it eventually came out that Taylor was in fact telling the truth, and had not heard Kanye’s controversial lyrics. Kim had actually fabricated the phone call recording to make Taylor look like a liar.
Hailey Bieber – Bad Blood Since 2016
What Happened?
Let’s put this puzzle together: Hailey Bieber is married to Justin Bieber; Justin Bieber is Selena Gomez’s ex; Selena Gomez is Taylor Swift’s best friend — of course Hailey and Taylor would be enemies! It makes sense in the pop culture world, at least.
Indeed, Hailey first made herself one of Taylor’s enemies in 2016 when she threw shade at Swift’s Squad by saying, “I don’t understand the Taylor Swift squad at all.”
Fast-forward to 2023, and a video went viral on TikTok showing Hailey rolling her eyes and sticking her tongue out upon the mention of Taylor on the show Drop The Mic in 2017.
Point made: Hailey is no fan of Taylor…

Diplo – Bad Blood Since 2016
What Happened?
Not only did Diplo once tweet to “get Taylor Swift a booty,” he also slammed her music in a Rolling Stone interview.
Back in 2016, the music producer revealed that he wasn’t a fan of Swift’s songs:
“Kids don’t want to listen to, like, ‘Look What You Made Me Do.’ That music doesn’t relate to them at all. I don’t think it ever did. They were only given that by radio and marketing budgets. I’m impressed with Post Malone. I can relate to him more than Taylor Swift.”
Swifties obviously proceeded to fill Diplo’s mentions and comments with countless snake emojis.
Scooter Braun – Bad Blood Since 2019
What Happened?
Other than Kanye, Taylor Swift’s number-one enemy is most likely this guy.
When celebrity manager, Scooter Braun, purchased Taylor’s former label, Big Machine Records, in 2019, he simultaneously gained the legal rights to her first six albums.
Taylor then ambushed Scooter in a Tumblr post, accusing him of “incessant, manipulative bullying.” Taking to the Billboard Awards stage, Tay also described his business tactics as “shameless greed” and criticized his “toxic male privilege.”
After a huge public dispute, Taylor ended up re-recording her previous albums, which allowed her to own the new masters and licensing of her songs.
Justin Bieber – Bad Blood Since 2019
What Happened?
Amid the feud with Scooter, Taylor gained another enemy, this time, Justin Bieber.
Justin, who is managed by Scooter Braun, defended his manager following Taylor’s Tumblr post. In that post, Taylor also referenced Justin, reminiscing when he posted a photo of him, Kanye, and Scooter, with the caption “Taylor swift what up.”
Bieber apologized for sharing that photo, but at the same time, slammed Taylor for publically attacking Scooter:
“Hey Taylor. First of all I would like to apologize for posting that hurtful Instagram post, at the time I thought it was funny but looking back it was distasteful and insensitive…for you to take it to social media and get people to hate on Scooter isn’t fair. What were you trying to accomplish by posting that blog? seems to me like it was to get sympathy u also knew that in posting that your fans would go and bully scooter.”
Although most of Taylor Swift’s enemies have since become friends, it’s safe to say she has many rivals under her belt.
