Picture yourself having a bajillion cameras flashing at you and thirsty photographers shouting your name. Overwhelming, yeah. Add to that someone someone aggressively yelling at you amidst the chaos. It’s A LOT.
Chappell Roan was captured telling a photographer to “shut the f**k up” at the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet on Wednesday evening.
As the singer was having her (badass) dress adjusted, she quickly turned around, pointed at the cameraman and said, “YOU shut the f*ck up.” She then continued, “No. Not me, bi*ch,” while pointing toward the bunch of journalists.

So, Why Did Chappell Tell the Photographer to Shut Up, You May Ask?
Other than probably feeling overstimulated AF (Chappell has recently discussed feeling overwhelmed by fame), it turns out that she was defending herself. Chappell Roan yelled at the photographer because she heard him shouting “shut the f*ck up.” You know, normal, nasty photographer behavior.
Naturally, Chappell stood up for herself. Being the messy icon that she is, Chappell said not today Satan, and snapped right back at that aggressive photographer. Slay queen!

It’s unclear whether the photographer was actually cursing at Chappell, or at someone else in the camera pit. Alternatively, as this Reddit user puts it, a photographer started throwing demands at Chappell to get a better shot of the star, then another camera guy stepped in to stick up for her, which led to the first photographer to curse at him – and Chappell defended him by shouting back.

Chappell Roan Has Been Struggling With Fame Lately
Chappell, who won ‘Best New Artist’ at the VMAs has recently discussed feeling overwhelmed by fame and her sudden rise to stardom over the past year. In a recent TikTok, the singer called out her fans for “harassment” and “predatory behavior.”
Pretty much explains why she lashed out at the VMAs.
