Whether you’ve been vibing to Good Luck, Babe or not, chances are you’ve heard of Chappell Roan.
She recently told a photographer to shut the fu*k up at the MTV VMAs, won her first ever award on the same night, and now, she’s ranting and raving about fame and how much she dislikes it.
It’s giving Kanye West, I’ll tell you that much.

Chappell got a few things off her chest while speaking to British magazine The Face. She expressed her thoughts on potentially winning a Grammy, called out the ‘abusive’ side of fame, and literally threatened to quit music if it gets too “dangerous.”
Yep, it’s a lot. Take a deep breath and read on to see Chappell Roan’s shocking claims about fame:
Chappell Roan Said She Doesn’t Want to Win a Grammy
The pop sensation, who has yet to be even nominated by The Recording Academy, explained that she’s “kind of hoping” she doesn’t win a Grammy award, so that everyone can leave her alone:
“I’m kind of hoping I don’t win, because then everyone will get off my *ss: ‘See guys, we did it and we didn’t win, bye’! I won’t have to do this again!”
FYI, the HOT TO GO! singer is suspected to nab the nominations for Best New Artist and Song of the Year this November. Safe to say Chappell is not manifesting the big win.

Chappell Compares Fame to an “Abusive Ex-Husband”
In a more outlandish statement, Chappell admitted that she thinks fame has the vibe of an “abusive ex-husband”:
“I feel like fame is just abusive. The vibe of this – stalking, talking sh*t online, [people who] won’t leave you alone, yelling at you in public – is the vibe of an abusive ex-husband.”
She added, “That’s what it feels like. I didn’t know it would feel this bad.”
Chappell Threatens to Quit Music
Chappell recently spoke on TikTok about the “harassment” and “predatory behavior” fans have been giving her, and now, she’s elaborated on the fear of it becoming “dangerous.”
Upon reflecting on an incident where two fans ambushed at her an airport, Chappell told The Face:
“I told myself, if this ever gets dangerous, I might quit. It’s dangerous now, and I’m still going. But that part is not what I signed up for.”
Chappell Speaks to Lorde for Advice
Clearly, Chappell is overwhelmed by fame and being in the spotlight, but at least she has her fellow pop girlies to rely on.
In the interview, Chappell revealed that she turns to singer, Lorde, for advice. During the situation at the airport, she said she “texted” Lorde:
“She sent me a list of things I should do [in that situation],” Chappell said. “Literally wrote down eight things she wished someone would have told her when she was going through it. And she went through fu*king hell. She was a baby!”
But Chappell Still Wants Her Career to Last
She may hate fame, y’all, but Chappell still wants her music career to last. She explained to the magazine:
“I feel ambitious about making this sustainable.” She continued, “That’s my biggest goal right now. My brain is like: quit right now, take next year off.”
Chappell went on to discuss how the industry “thrives on mental illness, burnout, overworking yourself, overextending yourself, not sleeping,” but concluded that she still has ambition to continue her art:
“The ambition is: how do I not hate myself, my job, my life, and do this?”

Chappell Roan is obviously trying very hard to be clear that she hates fame, guys.
