The internet is calling out Jamie Lee Curtis after she made some truly shocking comments about the Los Angeles fires.

Just days after being forced to evacuate her own home due to the devastating L.A. wildfires, the actress made what many are labeling one of the most insensitive takes of the year already.

What Did Jamie Lee Curtis Say About the LA Fires?

During a Q&A at a screening event for Last Showgirl — alongside none other than Pamela Anderson looking visibly uncomfortable — Jamie compared the California wildfires to the war in Palestine, leaving people absolutely stunned. Yes, she really went there.

Lee Curtis said: “The entire Pacific Palisades looks like, you know, unfortunately Gaza or one of these war-torn countries where awful things have happened.”

Despite several other cringe-worthy moments during the interview (like shading a film extra’s house), this was obviously the comment that sparked the most backlash. The actress’ insensitivity toward such a delicate topic left many people in disbelief.

How People Are Reacting Online

Unsurprisingly, Jamie’s statement stirred up major controversy, and the internet was not having it. People were quick to call her out for comparing an environmental tragedy to a literal war, labeling the comment as “tone-deaf” and “lacking empathy.”

Many also criticized the actress for seemingly only acknowledging the situation in Gaza, now that a tragedy has hit home for her.

Someone who attended the event claimed that several audience members walked out of the theater after hearing Curtis’ comment.

Despite her controversial statement, the actress also announced that she was donating $1 million to help victims of the L.A. wildfires.

Jamie’s History of Backlash Over Controversial Posts

This isn’t the first time Jamie Lee Curtis has faced heavy criticism for her controversial takes. Back in October 2023, Jamie posted a photo on Instagram of children running, seemingly fleeing from missiles. The caption read, “Terror from the skies,” alongside the Israeli flag.

However, when users pointed out that the children in the photo were actually Palestinian, Jamie deleted the post, and issued an apology a month later.

It’s honestly such a letdown that a renowned and award-winning actress, whose films have defined generations, now finds herself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Like, this really ain’t it, Jamie.
