Fans Accuse Doechii of Being Rude to Her Assistants in Viral Met Gala Moment

Doechii made her Met debut unforgettable—just maybe not for the reason she planned.

Update May 7th: Doechii has finally responded to all the backlash she received for ‘mistreating’ her team, by captioning a video, “All jokes aside this was such an overstimulating night but I wouldn’t trade it for the world! This was the night we all dreamed of and my team killed it (umbrellas aside).” The clip also featured the words, “God forbid a girl needs more umbrellas.”

The Met Gala is supposed to be all glam and good vibes—but Doechii’s debut at fashion’s biggest night is being overshadowed by some seriously messy drama.

A behind-the-scenes clip is making the rounds online, and fans are not loving what they saw.

Viral Clip Shows Doechii Being Rude to Her Team

The chaos popped off at The Mark Hotel (aka the Met Gala launch pad), where Doechii was getting ready to make her big debut. As soon as the elevator doors opened, paparazzi were right there, flashing cameras in her face. She immediately tried to hide, clearly not wanting anyone to peep the look before she hit the carpet. Totally understandable—it’s the Met, surprise reveals are the whole thing. But things got kinda heated….

Doechii’s team scrambled to block her from view, tossing her a single umbrella (not enough, apparently), and wheeling out a literal clothing rack to use as a shield (call it a fashion fortress if you will). That’s when the yelling started. In the clip that’s now all over TikTok and Twitter, you can hear Doechii shout, “Give me another umbrella, now! And another—go!” Yeah, super intense.

Then came more yelling—this time about space and people being too close. One of her assistants even shouted at the crowd to move, trying to create a path so she could dash to her sprinter van, hidden behind the wardrobe rack like it was Mission Impossible. And of course, someone in her team was caught yelling, “Don’t let her hair get wet!” which, fair—this is the Met Gala we’re talking about!

You can watch the full clip and judge for yourself:

Fans Slam Doechii for Being Disrespectful

Social media was quick to pounce. One Twitter user commented, “That’s why I could never be a famous person’s assistant because you aren’t going to talk to me like that.” Another wrote, “Not enough people are talking about how DISRESPECTFUL doechii is being in this video. Talk about dystopian. Who tf treats staff members like this?? This is not okay.”

They even brought up Chappell Roan’s infamous red carpet meltdown and compared it to Doechii’s viral clip:

Some fans defended her, saying she was probably under pressure (or had a lot of *anxiety*—sorry it had to be done) because let’s be real, the Met Gala is no casual red carpet—but others weren’t having it.

“People excusing this just because she was “stressed” are failing to notice that the workers are probably also stressed as fuck,” one post read.

So, why was Doechii in such a frantic mood? Obviously, she was trying to keep her look a surprise. Every celebrity attending wants a full-on reveal moment on the Met steps, which is why her outfit was hidden under layers of white fabric while she got ready.

But did the reveal really eat? Some fans seem to think Doechii’s behavior was uncalled for considering her “basic look”:

What Did Doechii Wear to the Met Gala 2025?

Doechii wore trouser shorts with a matching coat and tails by Pharrell and Louis Vuitton to meet the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme of the night. Complemented by a prosthetic LV logo on her cheek and a voluminous afro, the rapper’s look has already been dubbed as one of the most controversial looks this year

Combine that with the “scandalous” treatment of her team—safe to say the internet is not happy with Doechii right now.

Some fans are calling for an apology, others think this behavior is classic pre-Met chaos. Either way, this viral moment has people talking—and not just about the fashion.

The Met Gala might be about couture, but kindness never goes out of style, amirite?
