Unless you’re not chronically online, you probably saw that Katy Perry just went to SPACE. Yes, like literal outer space. The best-selling female artist hitched a ride on one of those super bougie commercial space flights, and if you’re wondering whether she sang E.T. up there, well, she certainly did not. Apparently, Katy belted out What A Wonderful World instead. So cliché.
Katy launched into space aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard 31 mission, marking a historic moment as part of the first all-female crewed spaceflight since 1963. Joining her on the 11-minute flight were journalist Gayle King, former NASA engineer Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and pilot Lauren Sánchez, who curated the mission. Yeah huge moment.
But while the internet was collectively gasping at Katy literally becoming the first ever pop star to venture into space, another pop queen had thoughts. And by thoughts, I mean Kesha posted a lil’ something that absolutely floored the internet.
Wendy Throws Shade at Katy Perry
It all started after Wendy’s Twitter account (yes, the fast food chain known for being sassier than Regina George in sheep’s clothing—pun intended—IFYKYK) replied to Pop Crave’s tweet (about Katy’s space trip), saying, “Can we send her back.”
AND I OOP.
The fast food chain continued by parodying Katy’s lyrics with, “I kissed the ground and I liked it,” referencing photos of Perry post-landing.
Yeah, they dragged her hard. So ofc Katy’s nemesis, Kesha, wanted to enter the chat…
Kesha Lowkey Claps Back, Reigniting Feud with Katy
Soon after Wendy’s viral tweet, and as if summoned by the shade gods, singer, Kesha dropped a photo showing herself casually sipping on a Wendy’s drink, with a subtle grin.
Call it passive aggressive, call it sassy and classy, call it what you will. All I know is Kesha was in the mood to throw some shade yesterday, and that she did, Pop Tellers!
Fans immediately clocked the timing and flooded the comments with, “Ooo I love me a shady Kesha!,” and “Don’t get why you’re trying to be shady…”
Kesha and Katy’s Ongoing Feud Explained
This isn’t the first time Kesha has seemingly commented on Katy Perry‘s actions. When news circulated that Katy was collaborating with producer Dr. Luke on her single Woman’s World, Kesha tweeted, “lol.”
In 2014, Kesha accused Dr. Luke of sexual assault, leading to a prolonged legal battle. In the middle of it all, Kesha claimed in a text to Lady Gaga that Dr. Luke had also assaulted Perry—a claim Perry denied. Since then, the vibes have been off between the two pop stars, but the the tension only got worse when Katy dropped her 2024 album 143 where she chose to work with Dr. Luke again, despite everything.
